Welcome to the Historic Freehold House!
Nestled in the small, quaint hamlet of Freehold, Freehold House Restaurant
has served for parts of 4 centuries as a destination for hospitality and
good memories.
The House was originally built in 1795, and served as a welcoming Inn to
travelers. Over time, additions were made to the original structure, which
have contributed to its rich history and beautiful appearance.
In the 1800’s it was known by names such as Freehold Hotel & Freehold
House as it was cared for by the Hunt and Parks Families. Dr. Parks was
the builder of the Carriage House next to the House, which now serves as
an elegant catering venue. Over time, and with the passing of another
century, the House saw other names, such as the Olde Country Inn. It also
saw changes in its patrons, as it was turned into a Tavern, and no longer
a boarding house. The Lawlors and Van Beusichems were part of the House’s
history in the 20th century. In the 1990’s the House underwent a major
renovation by the Buels and was reopened as a fine-dining restaurant, The
Freehold Country Inn.
Now, as this building’s history continues, it returns to one of its
original names, Freehold House. With the history that comes with its name,
and a new family to enjoy all it has to offer, it will no doubt again
serve as a destination for many, and a place to make memories for another
century.

With the goal of intimate, relaxed, fine dining, there are four dining
rooms available for your enjoyment.
Taproom
Our Tap Room may be our most unique dining room. With a model train making tracks around the room, old engines, lanterns and other treasures across the shelves, its sure to spark conversations and friendships. As a favorite of many, the signature drink of the Tap Room is Jack Daniels. We also offer a special Tap Room menu, a wide variety of draft and bottle beer, an extensive wine list and the full service bar so you can enjoy whatever your signature drink is!

Reading Room
The Reading Room is a small dining room with just four tables for a quiet atmosphere. The French doors may be closed to create a completely private dining experience for a small party or business meeting. The shelves on the walls are full of well-loved and well-read books. Please feel free to enjoy a story while dining. Bookmarks are available so you can keep your spot until your next visit. You may also enjoy the signature cocktail of the Reading Room…the Librarian.
Garden Room
The Garden Room is full of flowing fountains and luscious plants. In the cooler months, enjoy a meal in front of the fireplace. You can also go through the French doors to the terrace, for a meal at one of our outdoor tables. Enjoy a fresh Long-stemmed Rose Martini in the Garden Room.
Music Room
The Music Room is full of lovely instruments. If you are inspired to pick up the guitar or sit down at the piano or play a concerto on the cello, go right ahead. When our live pianist is in, enjoy the music along with this room’s signature drink, the Chocolate Martini.
